Acheive Anything?! REALLY?!

So today I was reading an article on "How to Achieve Anything". It was on my homepage when I logged on. I have to give this author credit. It's a very intriguing article and I can relate to it in so many ways! The author was speaking on such things that were so obvious and yet, we just don't think about.  For example, how important the differences between the words should and must really are.  If you are just gonna say I should do such and such, then odds are they're not gonna get done; or not in a timely fashion. If you say "I gotta [must] get this done!" then it is more likely that it will become a higher priority. I dunno about you, but this has never  been a strong suite for me.  Even when I do so say "I gotta get it done!"  sometimes I can get distracted by so many other things that it just doesn't get done. I laugh at my parents when they remind me that I have such a one-track mind! A classic excuse is that we don't have enough time. I love the tone of practicality here. All who have used this excuse, say "I!" "I I I I I I I!!!" It becomes a lot easier to use this excuse ESPECIALLY if you are a student.  Work comes first, work comes first... we spend hours at a time at a desk or wherever reading and writing and doing homework; well, supposedly.  I've met people that have become so hooked on school they barely allow themselves enough time for basic necessities like sleeping and eating! Second comes the classic "it's too hard'", or "it's uncomfortable" excuses.  I love how the author used the practical example of excersising. I know that's something I need to improve on since I am in fact overweight (thank you to those who thought I wasn't LOL).  So what I've started doing is the ten minute excersises, because being over weight I run out of breath fast and it isn't fun when you have sciensus problems and you can't breathe. Finally, the author notes, the all-time low is almost the perfect motivator. The author goes on to tell us a great motive: when your clearity is threatened.  These are the excuses and the ways to get out of it. Now, let's take some time to look at, what the author calls "the art of change".

Here's one thing I'm keeping under my belt. This clever "OPA" trick. Apparently OPA  stands for OUTCOME, PURPOSE, ACTION.  Sounds kinda off doesn't it? When I first read that I thought "Really? Normally people put the outcome as the last thing, afterall, an outcome is a result isn't it?" But ok.  As human beings we have many different interests that often times, eventually lead us to desired goals and acheivements. But there's a problem here: it's vague! Reaching out for a vague goal can be difficult, can't it? I mean, really, I'm sure everyone's done this at least once if they're not doing it now.   So we need to set a narrower goal at first. Have you ever heard of the cliche baby steps? I think if we did that to more of our desired goals, a lot more would get done!  Next is Purpose. Obviously, you gotta know why you want it! "I wanna do this... why? Well gee, I dunno!" That doesn't sound very fulfilling does it?  Knowing why you want something will help you think of what ya gotta do to get it, which leads us to the final concept: Action. "Let's put those words into action!" Sums it up quite perfectly, wouldn't you say?

All in all a meantality such as this can really change the way you do things. I, for one, cannot wait to get started! I'm glad I took the time to read this article! I am pumped! I know how to avoid the mentalities that make me avoid doing <Fill-in-the-blank>.  I wanna see how well I can follow this! I hope it works for you too!
